BBQ tools and tool sets

Tongs, spatulas, burger presses, ash tools and boxed sets. Strong gifting lines with lots of room for branding.

Buying bbq tools for your brand

BBQ tools are the core of a branded range: tongs, spatulas, forks, burger presses, ash tools and boxed sets that also suit gifting dates such as Father's Day and Christmas.

This range covers single tools and sets in bags and cases, in stainless steel with wooden, plastic or metal handles, and cast iron presses.

What to know before you buy

  • These touch food. FSANZ Standard 3.2.3 binds your food business customers rather than you, but it is the best guide to a food-contact surface: easy to clean, non-absorbent and made of material that will not contaminate food. FSANZ lists copper and galvanised metal in contact with acidic foods as a contamination risk; our advice is to keep those surfaces away from food altogether.
  • Handles are where tools fail. Check rivets, the handle joint and any locking ring on tongs on the sample and at inspection.
  • Cast iron needs a finish that will not rust in transit. Ask how it is seasoned or coated and packed against moisture.
  • Wooden and bamboo parts (handles, peels, boards) are wooden articles for biosecurity. The importer is responsible for meeting the import conditions in BICON, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) import conditions system, so ask the factory early how the wood is treated or processed.

Branding and packaging

  • Sets give you the most room to brand: the case or bag, the tools and the box. Ask for each to be quoted separately so you can see what each adds.
  • A logo etched or heat branded on the tool itself lasts after the packaging is gone.
  • If you want a set on the shelf for a seasonal date, work back from that date and say so in your RFQ.

Guides and tools

What to check before you order

  • Steel thickness on tongs and spatulas: thin steel flexes under a full grid.
  • Handle: wood, pakkawood or plastic, and how it is fixed.
  • Logo method: laser etch on steel, burn on wood, or print on the case.
  • Set contents and case, since sets are judged on the box as much as the tools.

Branding these products

Most bbq tools can carry a laser etched logo, a branded tag or header card, or full retail packaging. Each option has its own minimum, which your quote sets out separately from the product minimum.
