BBQ and grill baskets
Rolling, hinged, fish, corn and burger baskets. Everyday BBQ gear that is easy to put your own brand on.
Buying grill baskets for your brand
In our view, grill baskets can be a simple BBQ line to start a private label with, though that depends on your customers and channel. They are recognisable, can suit both shelf and online sales, and can give butchers an add-on sale beside kebab meat, fish and veg.
This range covers rolling, hinged, fish, corn, burger, sausage and kebab baskets, in stainless, chrome-plated and non-stick versions, many with wooden handles. Each listing shows the details we hold so far; the spec, minimum and price for your order are confirmed in your written quote.
What to know before you buy
- These touch food. FSANZ Standard 3.2.3 binds your food business customers rather than you, but it is the best guide to a food-contact surface: easy to clean, non-absorbent and made of material that will not contaminate food. FSANZ lists copper and galvanised metal in contact with acidic foods as a contamination risk; our advice is to keep those surfaces away from food altogether.
- Non-stick and chrome-plated baskets have a coating on the food-contact surface. Ask what the coating is and for its food-contact paperwork before you order, and check it at inspection for peeling or bare spots.
- Hinges, latches and detachable handles are where baskets fail. Test them loaded on the sample, and put them on your inspection list.
- Wooden and bamboo parts (handles, peels, boards) are wooden articles for biosecurity. The importer is responsible for meeting the import conditions in BICON, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) import conditions system, so ask the factory early how the wood is treated or processed.
Branding and packaging
- A swing tag or header card is generally one of the cheaper ways in and suits peg hooks. A printed box suits gifting but often carries its own, higher minimum.
- Laser etching suits stainless handles and frames; heat branding suits wooden handles. The quote basket only offers the methods that suit each product.
- Retail stores will want a barcode on every pack, and major retailers set their own packaging and barcode requirements. Ask your retailer before you print.

What to check before you order
- Steel grade: 304 stainless resists rust best; 430 is cheaper and magnetic; chrome or non-stick coatings need food-contact paperwork.
- Wire gauge and mesh gap: fine mesh holds prawns and diced veg, wider gaps suit chops and fish.
- Handle: fixed, detachable or wooden. Detachable handles pack flatter and cut carton cost.
- Hinge and lock: check the clasp holds under weight when flipped.
- Packaging: hang tag, sleeve or full colour box changes the minimum and the unit cost.
Branding these products
Most grill baskets can carry a laser etched logo, a branded tag or header card, or full retail packaging. Each option has its own minimum, which your quote sets out separately from the product minimum.
